literarily mine

based off certain people doing every single tag on the planet, i had to get one. she’s lucky its a literary tag, because, as we all know, i don’t have the time to do such things.
please, no drum roll. its my pleasure to bore you and insult you… all at the same time.
fatty, susie, dick kirrin, darrell rivers: name an enid blyton character i haven’t read about. these were probably my stand-out favourites… from fatty being the absolute genius that i wish i could be, to darrell being the normal freakshow that i have always related to. susie and dick are thrown in to remind myself of two teams of detectives that i still dig.
sherlock holmes: this was probably the character/book that woke me up to the world outside enid blyton. i started with a single book bought during a UK trip, to owning multiple original facsimile editions of his stories. has always been the god of detective fiction as i have known it, and ‘the final problem’, remains to this day one of the most moving stories i have ever read. every single detail, every single method he uses seems so… perfect.
marvin the robot: 1 sentence sums it up. “The first ten million years were the worst, and the second ten million years, they were the worst too. The third ten million I didn’t enjoy at all. After that I went into a bit of a decline.”
big surprise.
gandalf: its a lord of the rings thing. i have to admire the scope. i have to admire the character that comes back, and proceeds to kick serious butt. but most of all, i have to admire the character that can do anything on the planet, but spends time bursting fireworks.
peter parker: i’m a spidey fan, sue me. no matter that the dark knight is a much more kick ass character. but then spidey, in addition to those amazing super-powers, an aunt who can never die, and the ability to beat the odds even though life sucks all the time has… [drum roll]… an unbelievably hot wife.
tom sawyer: the perennial boy. he pretty much does everything, breaks the rules, has adventures, and still saves the day. and gets the girl. cocksure kid attitude at its best.
samuel vimes: the man is about grit, doggedness, and a frustration with the world that rivals marvin. he does everything possible to get the job done, and then complains that everyone recognizes it. no thank you. i don’t like compliments either.
jason bourne: long before matt damon rediscovered cool and went up against the cia, this was the most complex character i had found. ludlum never really exposited his character, and that only lent to the man who knew how to “break it down” without thinking, but didn’t know his own name. also one of the few character that grew with the books, and actually aged. bringing in a whole new level of development.
sam mccready: one of the first forsyth characters i read, and still revere, regardless of claude lebel. consistently flipping off the establishment, and a sense of humour that i love. the attitude is encapsulated in “4 weeks later, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Sam heard the news on the radio, and decided to change his bait.”
milo minderbinder: contract with US to build base. contract mission from germans to blow up US bases. build guns and aircraft for defense and attack during the mission. so milo’s guns fire at milo’s aircraft which are attempting to destroy milo’s bases. and everyone has a share.
beautiful.
hermione granger: 2 reasons. one, she’s a kickass character, even if rowling doesn’t give her due worth towards the end. she knows everything for everything. two, she’s played by the increasingly-beautiful-as-she-grows-up-no-i’m-not-a-paedophile emma watson.
paul atreides: the original dune has a charm and skill about it that is unmatched. mostly because paul explores the world with us. and doesn’t lapse into lsd or blindness. he’s a real person, and one you can empathize with at any level.
wally: hates work. hates thinking about work. loves coffee. has methods to do no work for him. ensures everyone around him realizes what no work is. unbelievably rooted in real life.
dusty miller: maccleans signature character was a mallory, but miller is what truly fleshes him out. he’s the guy with the smart-aleck quip as well as the ability to actually save the day. twice. in two books.
joe pearson: the image of dr. pearson standing under the “no smoking” sign and lighting up a cigar is unforgettable. he raves and rants, he resents the coming of a new age in the hospital; but at the end of it all, he manages to make the final diagnosis.
psmith: his sheer sang-froid when confronted with a mob in the first of his adventures, and eventual lack of involvement in the fight tells you everything. it is necessary to be diplomatic and resourceful in such a manner.
tristan farnon: the fact that he calls herriot up at 2 am as an old farmer unsure of what happened to his sheep, after 4 hours of pain is enough. he is a god.
its been a while

since i’ve been tagged.
or posted, for that matter…
… From here. I have to list one fact related to my life for every letter of my middle name. I also have to mention the following rules:
a) The rules must be mentioned in the beginning of the tag.
b) You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
c) At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
now, i’m in a dilemma. i could use the name that comes the middle of my full name; but it is not my actual “middle” name. we weirdos don’t have the concept of surnames and middle names and end names and over-the-top names. we have names. period.
if i were to use a random name, i might as well use random letters. or, i could be snarky and have a superhero middle name, but that is painful.
and one person for every letter of my middle name ? now, that is scary. come to think of it, even finding six people who read my blog is scary.
pet names ? i have more than a few. and that is not including insults.
confusion, confusion.
i’ll do the more popular version of the tag, and choose a name from amongst my three; and use that. i won’t tag anyone… i will encourage people to steal it. the crime will have its own punishment.
i shall hence choose my own name, and be done with it.
S – silly. from concepts of writing only in lower-case, to actually understanding the concepts of comic-book universes, its always been the silly things that fascinate me the most. i can act pretty silly at times too, ensuring that seriousness is not a crime i am accused of.
A – argumentative. given a chance, and an acceptable person, i’m willing to argue about everything under the sun.
T – tales. whether writing them, reading them, or watching them; i can’t live without ‘em.
I – irritating. i find a number of things so, especially when burdened with a cold. when i don’t find them, i get so. and thats not good for anyone around me.
S – sang-froid. i believe in maintaining it to extreme levels; and will go as far as to not react to anything. i will actually react slowly to things to ensure that what analysis i believe in (way too much) is done.
H – handsomeness. one of the few things i’ve never associated with myself, and more interestingly, neither has anyone else
there, it is done. do it if you dare, chicken.
you never run out of them..

especially when you’re too bored to work. and know a sweetheart called marie.
1. One of your scars, how did you get it?
On the back of my hand, acquired when I was 18. Getting it was a matter of climbing up to the higher cupboards, opening them up, and not realizing that the fan was mere centimeters away from the open door. When you don’t realize that, you generally tend to flail your hands in the air, as I did, and leave a testament chunk of flesh taken out.
Yep. Ouch.
2. What is on the walls in your room?
Paint, a varied assortment of posters, and a calendar. Nothing incriminating at all.
3. Do you snore, grind your teeth, or talk in your sleep?
Snore, possibly; occasionally. I do contortions in my sleep though.
4. What type of music do you listen to?
Could be anything or everything, depending on my mood. Rahman figures high, and random others occupy my fancy to the point of obsession.

Home, having a completely organized music collection and being organized among things.
Fine, I’ve never been organized. Still, I must miss it.
8. What is your most prized possession?
I don’t possess so much to have something prized. I have a poster which I’ve carried around for over 12 years; a few trinkets, a couple of gadgets which are significant. I’m guessing the alienware and my car were probably way up there; and are not easily replaceable.
9. How tall are you?
6’1″-something. A childhood dream, seriously.
10. Do you get claustrophobic?
Sometimes.

I honestly don’t remember. The absence of Thatha, possibly, is the closest I can think of.

Black-eyed with the effervescent twinkle, and dark haired. ‘Doe eyed’ has always been among some descriptions I’ve given.
14. Where can you see yourself being proposed to at?
In a kingdom, Far Far Away.
Even then, Shrek might have to sit on me to have me do it. When, of course, I won’t be able to – being flatter than a pancake.
15. Coffee or energy drink?
Coffee, I don’t prefer energy drinks ever.
16. Favorite pizza topping?
Plain cheese, though right now I’m off pizza.

Nope. Ew.
19. What was the first meaningful gift you ever received?
Very tough question – more so because I believe that even the acts of others done out of free will is a gift too. Way too many people, way too many things. Materially, possibly the first book my parents ever put in my hands.

Probably, at least just to have someone around to watch weird movies with.
