I try to say a lot while saying very little. Get used to it.
from “within”..
it is not the time for the deep soulful meaningful posts that i am so famed for. maybe, eventually. someday. when i am able to talk about this. i’ll just fill up on fluff till then.
its book themed, so i will not feel too guilty.
Look at the list of books below, bold the ones I’ve read, italicize the ones I might read, cross out the ones I won’t read, underline the ones on my book shelf, and place parentheses around the ones I’ve never even heard of.
for simplicity’s sake, bookshelf here means shelves in any country ![]()
- The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown
- The Catcher in the Rye – J.D. Salinger
- The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy – Douglas Adams
awesome is the wrong word. among all-time favourites.. the theories are just so subtle. - The Great Gatsby – Scott F. Fitzgerald
- To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee
more than in part, inspired after watching ‘capote’. - (The Time Traveler’s Wife – Audrey Niffenegger)
- (His Dark Materials – Philip Pullman)
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – J. K. Rowling
do i really need to comment. - The Life of Pi – Yann Martel
booker prize is not really a consideration, ‘the god of small things’ was not up my alley. more interested due to shyamalan. - Animal Farm – George Orwell
satire at its best. - Catch 22 – Joseph Heller
amazing how much the man fits into this book. its just keeps coming. - The Hobbit – J. R. R. Tolkien
in some ways even better than LOTR. - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time – Mark Haddon
more than anything, the hat-tip to the great sherlock is guarantee enough. - Lord of the Flies – William Golding
for the life of me, can’t remember what it was about this book. - Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
add all of jane austens works to the list. - 1984 – George Orwell
apparently come true 20 years later.. on the list. - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – J. K. Rowling
- (One Hundred Years of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
- Memoirs of a Geisha – Arthur Golden
isn’t this supposed to be like really good ? and the movie, nothing like it at all ? - The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini
- (The Lovely Bones – Alice Sebold)
- (Slaughterhouse 5 – Kurt Vonnegut)
- (The Secret History – Donna Tartt)
Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte
one of the only books i couldn’t get beyond the first 20 pages of. i hate leaving books incomplete, so – someday.- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – C.S. Lewis
yes, because of the movie. (Middlesex – Jeffrey Eugenides)
sounds fishily non-fiction. booooooooring.(Cloud Atlas – David Mitchell)
same as above.- Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
one of the earliest i read, incidentally. - (Atonement – Ian McEwan)
- (The Shadow of The Wind – Carlos Ruiz Zafon)
- The Old Man and the Sea – Ernest Hemingway
simply coz of its apparent classic nature. - The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood
heard of this one too, can’t remember where. - (The Bell Jar – Sylvia Plath)
- Dune – Frank Herbert
does playing the game count as reading ?
- (Sula – Toni Morrison)
- Cold Mountain – Charles Frazier
again, the movie is the metier. - The Alchemist – Paulo Coehlo
pretty good, but i didn’t understand how its so very amazing. or is it just my attitude? - (White Teeth – Zadie Smith)
this isn’t written by a dentist is it ?
- (The House of Mirth – Edith Wharton)
a lot of my “want to read” is simply based on how interesting the title sounds, though.
What titles would you add to this list, be it because you love them or because you think they’re worthy of note?
- A Suitable Boy – Vikram Seth
a recent read – its india in a book. classy. - The Dilbert Future – Scott Adams
the real nature of the man’s brilliance comes here. its not just a spin-off of dilbert. - HMS Ulysses – Alistair Maclean
the original. brilliant. awe-inspiring. i could go on and on. a must-read for any genre. - The Final Diagnosis – Arthur Hailey
probably his best. you just can’t help reading it again. and again. - The Prize – Irving Wallace
wallace is incorrectly classed as soft-porn. he does have it, but the concept underlying any of his books is brilliant. the sheer size of his canvas has to be read to be believed. - The Mandala Of Sherlock Holmes – Jamyang Norbu
true fans of doyle’s work would enjoy this. very classy indeed. - The Day of The Jackal – Frederick Forsythe
defined forsythe for his time. enough said.
back to maclean now..
i just got married

Nice to see “Capote” is good for something.
“To Kill a Mockingbird” is one of my top ten favourites, I’ve read it a million times probably.
